Veronica Ribot-Canales

What has Ithaca SUP Yoga been up to since our last outing on Cayuga Lake in September?  Putting together a dynamic, new, inspiring way to do our yoga, gain strength, balance, confidence and chase away our winter blahs with a creative surf inspired yoga curriculum which debuted at the Ithaca Winter YogaMelt on Sunday, February 12th, 2017 at the Ramada Inn Executive Center in Ithaca.

The temporary studio for the surfSET trainers will be at Puddledockers retail space at 704 W. Buffalo Street, yes! The very same location where we launch out of when we practice SUP Yoga.  While Puddledockers is closed during the off season until May, we will be utilizing the retail shop for our super core engaging practice of Surf Yoga, Veronica’s creation of a melding of a traditional yoga asana practice together with elements of surfing to further engage our core and all those tiny stabilizer muscles we use to stay upright on a moving platform.

The trainers are 6 feet long by 22 inch wide surf boards set on 3 inflatable bladders with a bungee cord attachment onto a base for the indoor environment. We have 4 boards for small intimate class sizes and classes can be booked for you and your friends by going to our Reserve! form and filling out a reservation in the same way you did for SUP Yoga sessions last summer.  You may also email me at veronica@ithacasupyoga.com for further information.  Dress for a workout or yoga class, bare feet like surfing, bring a water bottle, towel and your playful sense of adventure.  I’ll make sure you have a great time and by summer, you’ll be a pro on the water for SUP Yoga, or maybe even join Ithaca SUP Yoga for a retreat where you can savor all three disciplines of SUP Yoga, yoga and surfing!
